⚡ Priority Settings (Do These First)

🔋

Set Charge Limit to 80%

Settings → Charging → Charge Limit

Set your daily charge limit to 80%. This preserves battery longevity. Only charge to 100% the night before a long road trip. For LFP batteries (Standard Range), Tesla says 100% daily is fine.

🦶

Enable "Hold" Stopping Mode

Controls → Driving → Stopping Mode → Hold

Enables one-pedal driving — the car comes to a complete stop when you lift off the accelerator. Once you get used to it (takes 1–2 days), you'll never want to go back.

📹

Enable Sentry Mode & Dashcam

Controls → Safety → Sentry Mode

Records suspicious activity around your parked car and saves dashcam footage. Verify the USB drive in the glovebox is working (check for the red dot on the camera icon).

🔐

Set PIN to Drive

Controls → Safety → PIN to Drive

Requires a 4-digit PIN before the car can be driven. Adds theft protection on top of phone key and key card authentication.

🏠 Comfort & Convenience

🪞

Mirror Auto-Fold

Controls → Vehicle → Mirrors → Mirror Auto-Fold

Mirrors fold automatically when you lock the car. Prevents mirror strikes in tight garages and parking spots. Unfolds when you unlock.

🪟

Close Windows on Lock

Controls → Vehicle → Close Windows on Lock

All windows close automatically when you walk away and the car locks. Never worry about leaving windows open in the rain again.

🤫

Joe Mode

Controls → Safety → Joe Mode

Reduces the volume of chimes and alerts by about 50%. Named after a Tesla owner who wanted quieter alerts while his kids slept in the back.

Scheduled Departure

Tesla App → Climate → Schedule

Set your daily commute time. The car preconditions the cabin (heat/cool) and battery using wall power, so you leave with a warm cabin and maximum range — without draining the battery.

🅿️

Easy Entry

Controls → Vehicle → Seat → Easy Entry

Automatically moves the seat and steering wheel back when you put the car in Park, making it easier to get in and out. Returns to your driving position when you shift to Drive.

🌡️

Cabin Overheat Protection

Controls → Safety → Cabin Overheat Protection

Keeps the cabin below 40°C (105°F) when parked in the sun. Uses some battery but protects your interior and makes getting back in comfortable.

🚗 Driving Tips for Your First Week

Regenerative braking feels weird at first. Give it 2–3 days. Once your muscle memory adapts, you'll use the brake pedal only for emergency stops.
Autopilot needs calibration. The cameras need 25–100 miles of driving to fully calibrate. Some features won't be available until then.
Don't obsess over range. The displayed range is an estimate. Real-world range depends on speed, temperature, and terrain. Use the energy graph (swipe left on the range display) for accurate predictions.
Supercharging slows above 80%. On road trips, charge to 60–80% at each stop rather than waiting for 100%. You'll spend less total time charging.
Save your driver profile. The car stores seat position, mirror angles, steering wheel position, and display preferences per profile. Set it up once and it follows your phone key.
Try voice commands. Press the right scroll wheel and say things like "Navigate to work", "Set temperature to 21", "Open glovebox", or "Play [artist name]". It's faster than the touchscreen.
